A brave swimmer was protected by a pod of dolphins as he swam through shark-infested waters for charity. Adam Walker took on the incredible eight-hour, 16 nautical mile swim across the Cook Strait in New Zealand on Tuesday. While making his way through the freezing, choppy waters he was joined by around 10 dusky dolphins that stayed beside him for more than an hour. Part way through the incredible feat Adam became convinced that he had spotted a shark in the water – which is unsurprising as the strait is home to great whites, makos and bronze whalers. Fortunately he was not attacked and even managed to brush the tail of one dolphin that swam right up beside him.
